Over ten years' experience of working with the country's leading online educational institution's authors and academics and professional content producers has given me a broad and deep understanding of how learners learn from online materials – what they need from their learning materials and how they need their learning to be presented. This includes an understanding, not just of learning and teaching pedagogy, but also the wider elements which need just as much attention: the needs of learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those using English-language materials whose first language is not English.
