The formats I work in

I carry out most of my work in Microsoft Word using Track Changes and Comments so that my clients can accept or reject any changes and suggestions I’ve made.

I then offer a choice of:

· One copy of the revised document(s) with Tracked Changes and Comments visible to be accepted or rejected by the client.

· A new, ‘clean’ copy of the document(s) with Tracked Changes accepted but Comments still visible (as sometimes the client needs to make specific factual and style decisions –at the end of the day the final decision always rests with the client).

· Or both.

Alternatively, I can work in PDF and offer two alternatives for this service:

1. I can directly edit the PDF and return a new, ‘clean’ version with just Sticky Notes (the PDF version of Word’s Comments feature) showing my comments and AQs (Author Queries).

2. Using Adobe Acrobat to work on PDFs I can just add ‘Sticky Notes’ as marginal comments for all suggested amendments and AQs (including spelling, grammar and punctuaton suggestions).

I also work in clients’ Content Management Systems (CMS), where I make literal changes (such as addressing punctuation issues and other minor text tweaks) on the ‘live’ system and list more complicated queries on a separate Word document outlining the storyboard (the structure and layout of the live content).
