About me

I began my editorial career back in 1989 on a local newspaper group based in the South-East of England as an untrained but extremely enthusiastic advertising features writer, having wanted to be a professional writer since childhood. I got to interview local businesses which advertised their goods and services, and as a bonus I was able to develop my creative writing skills by reviewing local restaurants and venues, interviewing a few local celebrities and test-driving the latest cars for garages advertising in the newspaper. 

From there I went on to full-time roles in advertising, marketing and PR, and even spent a blissful couple of years as a senior editor writing and editing sentiments in greetings cards, fridge cards and other gifty stuff for Hallmark Cards.

Fast-forward twenty years through full-time roles including a ten-year stint as a ‘work-winning’ bid editor for an infrastructure management organisation, and in 2013 I decided to focus on my strengths of copyediting and proofreading and launched OneStop Editorial Services.

In 2023 I decided to rebrand focus on what I do best: making content easier and more enjoyable to read and remember (whilst still offering copyediting and proofreading services, too).  And so, Clear English Ltd was born.

(OneStop Editorial Services was closed down in October 2023 when I launched Clear English UK.)
